Corrosion Test Results

EonCoat Product

EonCoat builds a ceramic layer on top of the new stable surface in a single application. This layer is hard and extremely abrasion resistant and further protects the stable surface from anything that might damage it, including corrosion promoters. As a result, corrosion promoters (like oxygen and humidity) cannot get behind this corrosion resistant coating and migrate the way they can with ordinary paints.

This is a vast improvement over ordinary polymer paints. Polymer paints sit on top of the surface which once breached (even by the tiniest scratch), essentially promote corrosion by trapping in moisture.

Salt Chamber Test Results

To test EonCoat 's corrosion resistance a 45 day test was initiated. Details below:

We placed Q panels side by side in our corrosion chamber modeled on NASA's sea spray test, an extremely agressive corrosion test.

  • Samples were placed in the chamber beneath an actual Seawater spray (not a salt fog) that lasted 12 hours per day.
  • The other 12 hours of each day the samples were exposed to an intense multi-spectrum light (a grow light).
  • The leading brand was showing signs of corrosion by day 15 and was severely corroded by the 45th day.
  • The EonCoated plate remained impervious to the salt spray (except on the scribe (gouge) line).

Use Alone or as a Corrosion Resistant Primer

While EonCoat is ideal as a stand-alone product (no primer needed), its corrosion protection qualities and easy application process make EonCoat equally suitable as a corrosion prime coat under polymer paint.
